There’s nothing worse than being stuck at the airport, on those uncomfortable metal seats waiting for a delayed flight.
Usually, airport lounges with comfortable seating, free food & drink and those ever valuable phone charging sockets, can be on the pricey side – especially if there’s a group of you.
Luckily, your whole group may be able to get in for free if your flight is delayed for the rest of this year. Here’s all the information that you need to know:
What is in the deal exactly?
There are A LOT of caveats to this deal but if the stars align, you could be getting lounge access for you and three family or friends at an airport, worth £100+.
Of course, your flight has to be delayed to get it – so you still might not feel on top of the world if you DO get the deal, but it might ease the stresses.
If you’re a member of O2 (or have an O2 SIM card that can use O2 Priority), you can head onto the O2 Priority app, and register your upcoming flights.
O2 will track those flights for delays over the coming months… and if your flight is delayed by over 60 minutes, you’ll be sent 4 airport lounge tickets directly to you.
The free lounge passes can get you into a number of lounges around the world, most of which are £30+ each to get in.
Your flight needs to take place before the 5th November, and you need to register your flights on the app before you’re due to travel to get the deal.
The deal can be found within the O2 Priority app, or you can read full terms and conditions on the website.
Why should I care?
Nobody ever likes being delayed, so it’s a very nice freebie to get if the worst happens.
If you are getting away on holiday this summer, there may still be delays, cancellations and strikes on selected airlines – potentially causing delays. It’s better to be safe than sorry by registering your flight.
If you are traveling with a group, you only need one person to have an O2 phone, so you could benefit even if you’re with a different provider.
What’s the catch?
You do need to have someone in your group that has an O2 SIM card and can register your flight in O2 Priority.
Your flight needs to be at least 60 minutes delayed from its initial departure time. If it’s 50 or 55 minutes, you won’t get the deal.
Some smaller airports might not have lounges… big airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester will have plenty of options however.
What other options do I have?
If you travel often, you can get a Priority Pass membership, which gets you 10 free lounge visits a year for £189.
This works out at £18.90 per visit, which is less than half the price of a regular entry fee. Considering most people have a meal and a few drinks before flying, it’s a good deal to do that in a lounge instead.
Where can I find out more?
If you’re a member of O2 Priority, head onto the app and search for the lounge access. You can read more about the deal online on the O2 website.
