The cost-of-living crisis is making shopping for everyday groceries harder. The latest figures from the Kantar grocery market share report show that as a nation we’re turning to discount shops Aldi and Lidl in record numbers.
The Colin the Caterpillar scandal made headlines when Aldi was accused by M&S of copying its famous lepidopterous cake. But Colin isn’t the only ‘dupe’ you can get at Aldi, which can save you a surprising amount of money.
While we may all know that Aldi has bargains when it comes to food, not everyone is aware of just how similar some of their frozen and cupboard snacks are to some big brand names, both in packaging and ingredients. What isn’t similar however, are the price points.
Let’s take a look at the best brand alternatives at Aldi and compare just how much you could be saving for very similar products compared to typical Tesco prices.
Top Aldi food dupes
Chocolate
- These Aldi Titan bars are rated just as good as real Mars bars and £0.62 for six, compared to £1.25 for four. (P.S. they also make ice cream bar versions!).
- Aldi’s Racer bars are suspiciously similar in taste to Snickers, with the same price difference as above, and also including an ice cream edition.
- You can pick up the classic 90g Aero Peppermint bar for £0.89, or enjoy Aldi’s 100g Bubbly Mint bar for £0.75 (said to be an exact match apart from the shape).
- The popular Lotus Biscoff biscuits are sold for £1.49, while Aldi offers Belmont Biscuits for just £0.85!
- If you don’t want to cough up £1.25 for Mcvities Penguin bars, Aldi does a cheeky pack of Seal bars for £0.79. They don’t come with a cheesy joke, but the price difference makes up for it!
- An alternative to Cadbury’s chocolate fingers, priced at £1.50 for 114g, is Aldi’s chocolate fingers, 125g for £0.89. The packaging is almost identical, you can’t miss it – keep an eye out for their white chocolate edition too!
Biscuits
- While a 154g pack of Oreos will set you back £1, you can pick up Aldi’s Cookies ‘N’ Cream biscuits for £0.35.
- A packet of household favourite biscuits, Hobnobs, is rivalled by Aldi’s own Oaties, with an £0.83 price difference.
- Belvita’s classic Milk & Cereal biscuits are £1.50 for five packets, but Aldi’s version is priced at £0.99 for eight packets.

- Aldi’s Cheese Puffs are priced at £1.09 for a multipack of 10, but they taste and look almost identical to Wotsits (£1.65 for 6 bags).
